Privacy Policy

The short version

CHANGELOG is local-first. On the individual tier, your log entries are created and stored on your own device and are never sent to us. The site sets no tracking cookies, serves its own fonts, and collects almost nothing. What little we do collect is listed below, along with why.

1. What we collect

  • Email address, if you opt in. The Try-it demo and the site offer a build-updates list. If you give us your email, it is stored with Zoho Campaigns and used only to send those updates.
  • Consulting inquiries. If you send an inquiry from the consulting page, the name, company, email, and message you enter are stored in Zoho CRM so we can reply.
  • Aggregate, cookie-less analytics. We use GoatCounter to count page views. It sets no cookies, builds no personal profiles, and does not track you across sites.
  • Standard hosting logs. Our host (Netlify) keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses, as part of operating the service.

2. What we do not collect

  • Your log entries. On the individual tier they never leave your device.
  • Advertising identifiers or third-party tracking of any kind.
  • Anything typed into the Try-it demo other than the email you choose to submit. Demo entries live in your browser session and are not sent to us.

3. How we use what we collect

To send the updates you asked for, to reply to inquiries you send, and to understand aggregate site traffic. Nothing else.

4. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Service providers

We rely on a small set of processors to run the service: Zoho (email list and CRM), Netlify (hosting), and GoatCounter (analytics). Each receives only what it needs for the purpose above.

6. Retention

Email list entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Inquiry records are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period after. [[TBD: legal review, formal retention schedule]]

7. Your choices

  • Every update email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • You can ask us to delete your email or inquiry records at any time: hello@changelog.systems.

8. Team sync, when it ships

The paid Team tier will sync entries across a crew. Before that ships, this policy will be updated to describe exactly what is stored, where, and for how long. Until then, nothing in the app syncs anywhere.

9. Children

The site and the app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
